What suppliers miss in Montana
- The license is new: the board adopted it effective December 6, 2025, so older 50-state lists show Montana as having no DME license.
- The application includes a floor plan, security measures, the device categories to be dispensed and the policies the rules require, and no license issues to a facility in a personal residence.
- For ventilators, life-sustaining infusions or oxygen, the facility must provide a backup system, duplicate or power supply lasting at least three times its response time.
Does Montana require a DME supplier license?
Since December 6, 2025, a facility that only dispenses devices, DME or medical gas and supplies directly to a patient in Montana on a prescription order needs a Board of Pharmacy device facility license. It replaces the need for a pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy or wholesale license when no prescription drugs are dispensed.
