What suppliers miss in New Jersey
- The Medicaid moratorium on medical supply providers dates from 2006 and is still in the state's rules, so a new DME company may be unable to enroll in New Jersey fee-for-service Medicaid at all.
Does New Jersey require a DME supplier license?
No New Jersey DME supplier license was confirmed from the state's law. The practical gate is Medicaid: New Jersey has kept a moratorium on new fee-for-service medical supply providers since July 1, 2006, with entry only where the state finds an access or special need.
What does New Jersey Medicaid add for DME suppliers?
A provider that was not an approved fee-for-service medical supply provider before July 1, 2006 is ineligible unless the Division finds a special need, judged by mileage-based access standards, the provider's hours, 24-hour or emergency service, and specialty products. Changes of ownership, Medicare crossover billing and pharmacies selling supplies fall outside the moratorium.
